I. Overview

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) microporous film is made by dispersing PTFE resin powder as a raw material and stretched through a series of special processes. It has a fibrillar microporous structure with a porosity of 85% or more and per square centimeter. 1.4 billion micropores with a pore size range of 0.02um-1.5um.

PTFE microporous film was developed by W. L. GORE in the late 1970s. After nearly 20 years of continuous improvement, a series of products have been developed. Since the early 1980s, many research institutes and enterprises have been developing PTFE microporous membranes. The project developed by Shanghai Pudong PTFE Plastics Factory passed the appraisal of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission in 1994. At the domestic leading level, the performance indicators of the products have reached the international level.
Second, the production process of PTFE microporous film

In the conventional production process, a polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion resin is mixed with a liquid auxiliary agent, the mixture is formed into a sheet by calendering, and the sheet is biaxially stretched by a machine to obtain a PTFE microporous film. The process flow is:

PTFE resin, extrusion aid (material selection) - mixing - calendering - biaxial stretching - coiling
As an environmentally friendly film, it mainly controls the emission of soot and the collection of products. According to the conditions of use, the film to be produced is required to have a small pore size and a high void ratio, so that the running resistance is low and the collecting effect is good, and at the same time, a certain strength is required. The factors affecting the above indicators are mainly related to the preparation of the base film, the temperature, speed and draw ratio of the stretching.

At present, the PTFE microporous membrane is mainly composed of a woven fabric or a non-woven fabric to obtain a membrane filter (hereinafter referred to as a PTFE membrane filter), which is used as a filter material in a dust remover. Since the PTFE microporous membrane has small pore size and high density, the filter material can filter ultrafine dust, has good filtering effect and high economic efficiency. Properties of PTFE microporous membranes PTFE resins have many properties, such as non-absorbent water, high melting point (327 °C), wide temperature range (-200 °C to 260 °C), non-combustibility and thermal stability, and low friction coefficient. Chemical resistance (resistant to many highly corrosive media), weather resistance and electrical resistance. The PTFE microporous membrane is obtained by mechanical stretching without adding any substance under special conditions, and does not change its original characteristics. Therefore, the PTFE film has the above characteristics, and the application field is highly applicable, and is not affected by the acidity and alkalinity of the exhaust gas, and the temperature can reach 260 °C. In use, it is only necessary to consider the correct choice of the base fabric, because the base fabric is also suitable for working conditions, and directly affects the service life of the filter material.
